The Alberta Emerald Awards event takes place annually, alternating between Edmonton and Calgary. Over 500 people attend the event each year to celebrate excellence and provide support and encouragement to those who work so hard to help preserve and enhance our environment.
A celebration reception follows the awards ceremony, enabling recipients and finalists to meet with patrons and sponsors of the Emerald Foundation, government representatives, corporate leaders and Foundation members.
The Alberta Emerald Foundation gratefully acknowledges the outstanding support we receive from our patrons and sponsors, which allows the Foundation to showcase environmental excellence in Alberta, setting an example for others to follow.

2009 Emerald Awards Ceremony
On June 16 at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, the Alberta Emerald Foundation was delighted to announce its ten 2009 Emerald Awards Recipients. Over 500 people joined us at Shoctor Theatre to celebrate a night of environmental excellence and congratulate all the nominees for the 2009 Emerald Awards.
The Alberta Emerald Foundation was honoured to have as its guests His Honour the Lieutenant Governor Norman Kwong, Alberta Environment Minister Rob Renner and our Honourary Chair and Mayor of Edmonton, Stephen Mandel.
